وَلّ لَىْ لِ اِذَا
اِذَا یَغْشٰىهَا۪
يَغْ شَا هَا
وَسّ سَ مَآ ءِ وَ مَا
وَ مَا بَنٰىهَا۪
بَ نَا هَا
وَلْ اَرْ ضِ وَ مَا
وَ مَا طَحٰىهَا۪
طَ حَا هَا
وَ نَفْ سِنْ وّ وَّ مَا
وَ مَا سَوّٰىهَا۪
سَوّ وَا هَا
فَ اَلْ هَ مَ هَا فُجُوْرَهَا
فُ جُوْ رَ هَا وَ تَقْوٰىهَا۪
وَ تَقْ وَا هَا
قَدْ اَفْلَحَ
اَفْ لَ حَ مَنْ
مَنْ زَكّٰىهَا۪
زَكّ كَا هَا
وَ قَدْ خَابَ
خَا بَ مَنْ
مَنْ دَسّٰىهَا
دَسّ سَا هَا
كَذّ ذَ بَتْ ثَمُوْدُ
ثَ مُوْ دُ بِطَغْوٰىهَاۤ
بِ طَغْ وَا هَا
اِذِمْ انْۢبَعَثَ
بَ عَ ثَ اَشْقٰىهَا۪
اَشْ قَا هَا
فَ قَا لَ لَهُمْ
لَ هُمْ رَسُوْلُ
رَ سُوْ لُلّ اللّٰهِ
لَا هِ نَاقَةَ
نَا قَ تَلّ اللّٰهِ
لَا هِ وَ سُقْیٰهَا
وَ سُقْ يَا هَا
فَ كَذّ ذَ بُوْ هُ فَعَقَرُوْهَا ۪ۙ۬
فَ عَ قَ رُوْ هَا فَدَمْدَمَ
فَ دَمْ دَمَ عَلَیْهِمْ
عَ لَىْ هِمْ رَبُّهُمْ
رَبّ بُ هُمْ بِذَنْۢبِهِمْ
بِ ذَمْ بِ هِمْ فَسَوّٰىهَا۪
فَ سَوّ وَا هَا
and the night as it conceals it!
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
And [by] the night when it covers [i.e., conceals] it
— Saheeh International
And by heaven and ˹the One˺ Who built it,
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
And [by] the sky and He who constructed it
— Saheeh International
and the earth and ˹the One˺ Who spread it!
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
And [by] the earth and He who spread it
— Saheeh International
And by the soul and ˹the One˺ Who fashioned it,
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
And [by] the soul and He who proportioned it1
— Saheeh International
then with ˹the knowledge of˺ right and wrong inspired it!
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
And inspired it [with discernment of] its wickedness and its righteousness,
— Saheeh International
Successful indeed is the one who purifies their soul,
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
He has succeeded who purifies it,
— Saheeh International
and doomed is the one who corrupts it!
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
And he has failed who instills it [with corruption].
— Saheeh International
Thamûd rejected ˹the truth˺ out of arrogance,
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
Thamūd denied [their prophet] by reason of their transgression,
— Saheeh International
when the most wicked of them was roused ˹to kill the she-camel˺.
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
When the most wretched of them was sent forth.1
— Saheeh International
But the messenger of Allah warned them, “˹Do not disturb˺ Allah’s camel and her ˹turn to˺ drink!”
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
And the messenger of Allah [i.e., Ṣāliḥ] said to them, "[Do not harm] the she-camel of Allah or [prevent her from] her drink."
— Saheeh International
Still they defied him and slaughtered her. So their Lord crushed them for their crime, levelling all to the ground.1

But they denied him and hamstrung1 her. So their Lord brought down upon them destruction for their sin and made it equal [upon all of them].
