نِصْ فَ هُوْٓ اَوِ
اَوِنْ انْقُصْ
قُصْ مِنْهُ
مِنْ هُ قَلِیْلًا
قَ لِىْ لَا
اَوْ زِدْ
زِدْ عَلَیْهِ
عَ لَىْ هِ وَ رَتِّلِ
وَرَتّ تِ لِلْ الْقُرْاٰنَ
قُرْ آ نَ تَرْتِیْلًا
تَرْ تِىْ لَا
اِنّ نَا سَنُلْقِیْ
سَ نُلْ قِىْ عَلَیْكَ
عَ لَىْ كَ قَوْلًا
قَوْ لَنْ ثَقِیْلًا
ثَ قِىْ لَا
اِنّ نَ نَاشِئَةَ
نَا شِ ءَ تَلّ الَّیْلِ
لَىْ لِ هِیَ
هِ ىَ اَشَدُّ
اَشَدّ دُ وَطْاً
وَطْ اَنْ وّ وَّ اَقْوَمُ
وَ اَقْ وَمُ قِیْلًا
قِىْ لَا
اِنّ نَ لَكَ
لَ كَ فِی
فِنّ النَّهَارِ
نَ هَا رِ سَبْحًا
سَبْ حَنْ طَوِیْلًا
طَ وِىْ لَا
وَذْ كُ رِسْ اسْمَ
مَ رَبِّكَ
رَبّ بِ كَ وَ تَبَتَّلْ
وَ تَ بَتّ تَلْ اِلَیْهِ
اِلَىْ هِ تَبْتِیْلًا
تَبْ تِىْ لَا
رَبّ بُلْ الْمَشْرِقِ
مَشْ رِ قِ وَ الْمَغْرِبِ
وَلْ مَغْ رِ بِ لَاۤ
لَٓا اِلٰهَ
اِلَا هَ اِلَّا
اِلّ لَا هُوَ
هُ وَ فَاتَّخِذْهُ
فَتّ تَ خِذْ هُ وَكِیْلًا
وَ كِىْ لَا
وَصْ بِرْ عَلٰی
عَ لَا مَا
مَا یَقُوْلُوْنَ
ىَ قُوْ لُوْ نَ وَ اهْجُرْهُمْ
وَهْ جُرْ هُمْ هَجْرًا
هَجْ رَنْ جَمِیْلًا
جَ مِىْ لَا
وَذَرْ نِىْ وَ الْمُكَذِّبِیْنَ
وَلْ مُ كَذّ ذِ بِىْ نَ اُولِی
اُ لِنّ النَّعْمَةِ
نَعْ مَ ةِ وَ مَهِّلْهُمْ
وَ مَهّ هِلْ هُمْ قَلِیْلًا
قَ لِىْ لَا
اِنّ نَ لَدَیْنَاۤ
لَ دَىْ نَآ اَنْكَالًا
اَنْ كَا لَنْ وّ وَّ جَحِیْمًا
وَ جَ حِىْ مَا
وَ طَ عَا مَنْ ذَا
ذَا غُصَّةٍ
غُصّ صَ تِنْ وّ وَّ عَذَابًا
وَ عَ ذَا بَنْ اَلِیْمًا
اَلِىْ مَا
˹pray˺ half the night, or a little less,

Half of it - or subtract from it a little
— Saheeh International
or a little more—and recite the Quran ˹properly˺ in a measured way.

Or add to it, and recite the Qur’ān with measured recitation.
— Saheeh International
˹For˺ We will soon send upon you a weighty revelation.

Indeed, We will cast upon you a heavy word.1
— Saheeh International
Indeed, worship in the night is more impactful and suitable for recitation.
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
Indeed, the hours of the night are more effective for concurrence [of heart and tongue]1 and more suitable for words.2
— Saheeh International
For during the day you are over-occupied ˹with worldly duties˺.

Indeed, for you by day is prolonged occupation.
— Saheeh International
˹Always˺ remember the Name of your Lord, and devote yourself to Him wholeheartedly.
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with [complete] devotion.
— Saheeh International
˹He is the˺ Lord of the east and the west. There is no god ˹worthy of worship˺ except Him, so take Him ˹alone˺ as a Trustee of Affairs.

[He is] the Lord of the East and the West; there is no deity except Him, so take Him as Disposer of [your] affairs.1
— Saheeh International
Be patient ˹O Prophet˺ with what they say, and depart from them courteously.
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
And be patient over what they say and avoid them with gracious avoidance.
— Saheeh International
And leave to Me the deniers—the people of luxury—and bear with them for a little while.
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
And leave Me with [the matter of] the deniers, those of ease [in life], and allow them respite a little.
— Saheeh International
˹For˺ We certainly have shackles, a ˹raging˺ Fire,
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
Indeed, with Us [for them] are shackles and burning fire.
— Saheeh International
choking food, and a painful punishment ˹in store for them˺
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
And food that chokes and a painful punishment -
— Saheeh International
