وَ اِذْ اَخَذَ
اَخَ ذَ رَبُّكَ
رَبّ بُ كَ مِنْۢ
مِمْ بَنِیْۤ
بَ نِىْٓ اٰدَمَ
آ دَ مَ مِنْ
مِنْ ظُهُوْرِهِمْ
ظُ هُوْ رِ هِمْ ذُرِّیَّتَهُمْ
ذُ رّ رِىّ ىَ تَ هُمْ وَ اَشْهَدَهُمْ
وَاَشْ هَ دَ هُمْ عَلٰۤی
عَ لَٓا اَنْفُسِهِمْ
اَنْ فُ سِ هِمْ اَلَسْتُ
اَلَسْ تُ بِرَبِّكُمْ ؕ
بِ رَبّ بِ كُمْ قَالُوْا
قَالُوۡ بَلٰی ۛۚ
بَ لَا شَهِدْنَا ۛۚ
شَ هِدْ نَا اَنْ
اَنۡ تَقُوْلُوْا
تَ قُوْ لُوْ یَوْمَ
يَوْ مَلْ الْقِیٰمَةِ
قِ يَا مَ ةِ اِنَّا
اِنّ نَا كُنَّا
كُنّ نَا عَنْ
عَنۡ هٰذَا
هَا ذَا غٰفِلِیْنَ
غَا فِ لِىْٓ نْ
اَوْ تَقُوْلُوْۤا
تَ قُوْ لُوْٓ اِنَّمَاۤ
اِنّ نَ مَآ اَشْرَكَ
اَشْ رَ كَ اٰبَآؤُنَا
آ بَآ ءُ نَا مِنْ
مِنْ قَبْلُ
قَبْ لُ وَ كُنَّا
وَ كُنّ نَا ذُرِّیَّةً
ذُرّ رِىّ ىَ تَمّ مِّنْۢ
مِمْ بَعْدِهِمْ ۚ
بَعْ دِ هِمْ اَفَتُهْلِكُنَا
اَفَ تُهْ لِ كُ نَا بِمَا
بِ مَا فَعَلَ
فَ عَ لَلْ الْمُبْطِلُوْنَ
مُبْ طِ لُوْٓ نْ
وَ كَ ذَا لِ كَ نُفَصِّلُ
نُ فَصّ صِ لُلْ الْاٰیٰتِ
آ يَا تِ وَ لَعَلَّهُمْ
وَ لَ عَلّ لَ هُمْ یَرْجِعُوْنَ
يَرْ جِ عُوْٓ نْ
And ˹remember˺ when your Lord brought forth from the loins of the children of Adam their descendants and had them testify regarding themselves. ˹Allah asked,˺ “Am I not your Lord?” They replied, “Yes, You are! We testify.” ˹He cautioned,˺ “Now you have no right to say on Judgment Day, ‘We were not aware of this.’

And [mention] when your Lord took from the children of Adam - from their loins - their descendants and made them testify of themselves, [saying to them], "Am I not your Lord?" They said, "Yes, we have testified." [This] - lest you should say on the Day of Resurrection, "Indeed, we were of this unaware."

Nor say, ‘It was our forefathers who had associated others ˹with Allah in worship˺ and we, as their descendants, followed in their footsteps. Will you then destroy us for the falsehood they invented?’”
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
Or [lest] you say, "It was only that our fathers associated [others in worship] with Allah before, and we were but descendants after them. Then would You destroy us for what the falsifiers have done?"
— Saheeh International
This is how We make our signs clear, so perhaps they will return ˹to the Right Path˺.

And thus do We [explain in] detail the verses, and perhaps they will return.1
