But when they saw it ˹devastated˺, they cried, “We must have lost ˹our˺ way!

But when they saw it, they said, "Indeed, we are lost;
— Saheeh International
In fact, we have been deprived ˹of our livelihood˺.”
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
Rather, we have been deprived."
— Saheeh International
The most sensible of them said, “Did I not urge you to say, ‘Allah willing.’?”
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
The most moderate of them said, "Did I not say to you, 'Why do you not exalt [Allah]?'"1
— Saheeh International
They replied, “Glory be to our Lord! We have truly been wrongdoers.”
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
They said, "Exalted is our Lord! Indeed, we were wrongdoers."
— Saheeh International
Then they turned on each other, throwing blame.
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
Then they approached one another, blaming each other.
— Saheeh International
They said, “Woe to us! We have certainly been transgressors.
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
They said, "O woe to us; indeed we were transgressors.
— Saheeh International
We trust our Lord will give us a better garden than this, ˹for˺ we are indeed turning to our Lord with hope.”1
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
Perhaps our Lord will substitute for us [one] better than it. Indeed, we are toward our Lord desirous."1
— Saheeh International
That is the ˹way of Our˺ punishment ˹in this world˺. But the punishment of the Hereafter is certainly far worse, if only they knew.1
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
Such is the punishment [of this world]. And the punishment of the Hereafter is greater, if they only knew.
— Saheeh International
Indeed, the righteous will have the Gardens of Bliss with their Lord.
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
Indeed, for the righteous with their Lord are the Gardens of Pleasure.
— Saheeh International
Should We then treat those who have submitted like the wicked?
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
Then will We treat the Muslims like the criminals?
— Saheeh International
What is the matter with you? How do you judge?
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
What is [the matter] with you? How do you judge?
— Saheeh International
