But they killed her, so he warned ˹them˺, “You have ˹only˺ three ˹more˺ days to enjoy life in your homes—this is an unfailing promise!”

But they hamstrung her, so he said, "Enjoy yourselves in your homes for three days. That is a promise not to be denied [i.e., unfailing]."

When Our command came, We saved Ṣâliḥ and those who believed with him by a mercy from Us and spared them the disgrace of that Day. Surely your Lord ˹alone˺ is the All-Powerful, Almighty.

So when Our command came, We saved Ṣāliḥ and those who believed with him, by mercy from Us, and [saved them] from the disgrace of that day.1 Indeed, it is your Lord who is the Powerful, the Exalted in Might.

And the ˹mighty˺ blast overtook the wrongdoers, so they fell lifeless in their homes,

And the shriek1 seized those who had wronged, and they became within their homes [corpses] fallen prone

as if they had never lived there. Surely Thamûd denied their Lord, so away with Thamûd!

As if they had never prospered therein. Unquestionably, Thamūd denied their Lord; then, away with Thamūd.

And surely Our messenger-angels came to Abraham with good news ˹of a son˺. They greeted ˹him with˺, “Peace!” And he replied, “Peace ˹be upon you˺!” Then it was not long before he brought ˹them˺ a ˹fat,˺ roasted calf.

And certainly did Our messengers [i.e., angels] come to Abraham with good tidings; they said, "Peace." He said, "Peace," and did not delay in bringing [them] a roasted calf.

And when he saw that their hands did not reach for the food, he became suspicious and fearful of them.1 They reassured ˹him˺, “Do not be afraid! We are ˹angels˺ sent ˹only˺ against the people of Lot.”

But when he saw their hands not reaching for it, he distrusted them and felt from them apprehension.1 They said, "Fear not. We have been sent to the people of Lot."

And his wife was standing by, so she laughed,1 then We gave her good news of ˹the birth of˺ Isaac, and, after him, Jacob.

And his wife was standing, and she smiled.1 Then We gave her good tidings of Isaac and after Isaac, Jacob.

She wondered, “Oh, my! How can I have a child in this old age, and my husband here is an old man? This is truly an astonishing thing!”

She said, "Woe to me!1 Shall I give birth while I am an old woman and this, my husband, is an old man? Indeed, this is an amazing thing!"
— Saheeh International
They responded, “Are you astonished by Allah’s decree? May Allah’s mercy and blessings be upon you, O people of this house. Indeed, He is Praiseworthy, All-Glorious.”

They said, "Are you amazed at the decree of Allah? May the mercy of Allah and His blessings be upon you, people of the house. Indeed, He is Praiseworthy and Honorable."

Then after the fear had left Abraham, and the good news had reached him, he began to plead with Us for the people of Lot.

And when the fright had left Abraham and the good tidings had reached him, he began to argue [i.e., plead] with Us1 concerning the people of Lot.

Truly, Abraham was forbearing, tender-hearted, and ever turning ˹to his Lord˺.

Indeed, Abraham was forbearing, grieving1 and [frequently] returning [to Allah].
