In fact, on that Day they will be ˹fully˺ submissive.
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
But they, that Day, are in surrender.
— Saheeh International
They will turn on each other, throwing blame.
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
And they will approach one another asking [i.e., blaming] each other.
— Saheeh International
The misled will say, “It was you who deluded us away from what is right.”1
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
They will say, "Indeed, you used to come at us from the right."1
— Saheeh International
The misleaders will reply, “No! You disbelieved on your own.
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
They [i.e., the oppressors] will say, "Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers,
— Saheeh International
We had no authority over you. In fact, you yourselves were a transgressing people.
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
And we had over you no authority, but you were a transgressing people.
— Saheeh International
The decree of our Lord has come to pass against us ˹all˺: we will certainly taste ˹the punishment˺.
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
So the word [i.e., decree] of our Lord has come into effect upon us; indeed, we will taste [punishment].
— Saheeh International
We caused you to deviate, for we ourselves were deviant.”
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
And we led you to deviation; indeed, we were deviators."
— Saheeh International
Surely on that Day they will ˹all˺ share in the punishment.
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
So indeed they, that Day, will be sharing in the punishment.
— Saheeh International
That is certainly how We deal with the wicked.
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
Indeed, that is how We deal with the criminals.
— Saheeh International
For whenever it was said to them ˹in the world˺, “There is no god ˹worthy of worship˺ except Allah,” they acted arrogantly
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
Indeed they, when it was said to them, "There is no deity but Allah," were arrogant
— Saheeh International
and argued, “Should we really abandon our gods for a mad poet?”
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran
And were saying, "Are we to leave our gods for a mad poet?"
— Saheeh International
