Lot pleaded, “Indeed, these are my guests, so do not embarrass me.

— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran

[Lot] said, "Indeed, these are my guests, so do not shame me.

— Saheeh International

Fear Allah and do not humiliate me.”

— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran

And fear Allah and do not disgrace me."

— Saheeh International

They responded, “Have we not forbidden you from protecting anyone?”

— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran

They said, "Have we not forbidden you from [protecting] people?"

— Saheeh International

He said, “O my people! Here are my daughters1 ˹so marry them˺ if you wish to do so.”

— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran

[Lot] said, "These are my daughters1 - if you would be doers [of lawful marriage]."

— Saheeh International

By your life ˹O Prophet˺,1 they certainly wandered blindly, intoxicated ˹by lust˺.

— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran

By your life, [O Muḥammad], indeed they were, in their intoxication, wandering blindly.

— Saheeh International

So the ˹mighty˺ blast overtook them at sunrise.

— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran

So the shriek1 seized them at sunrise.

— Saheeh International

And We turned the cities ˹of Sodom and Gomorrah˺ upside down and rained upon them stones of baked clay.

— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran

And We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of hard clay.

— Saheeh International

Surely in this are signs for those who contemplate.

— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran

Indeed in that are signs for those who discern.

— Saheeh International

Their ruins still lie along a known route.

— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran

And indeed, they [i.e., those cities] are [situated] on an established road.

— Saheeh International

Surely in this is a sign for those who believe.

— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran

Indeed in that is a sign for the believers.

— Saheeh International

And the residents of the Forest were truly wrongdoers,

— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran

And the companions of the thicket [i.e., the people of Madyan] were [also] wrongdoers,

— Saheeh International
